Canada is vast and spans temperate zones like no other. We have lowlands, Maritimes, the West Coast, the Cordillera, the Prairies, the Taiga, Boreal forests and Arctic regions. With such diverse habitats our wildlife is just as varied and stunning. For an example we have black, brown and grizzly bears as well as polar bears inhabiting their respective zones. There are bison, wolves, beavers, cougars, foxes and lynx to name a few. Such diversity allows painters and artists from across the country to capture them in various styles and mediums. A painting of such subjects elicits a sense of wildness and awe, it is a treasure to own and enjoy.
Wildlife artists use their skills to capture these unique animals in all their magnificent. The well known Canadian artists Denis Mayer, Jr, and Dwayne Harty are such painters, as is Cindy Sorley-Keichinger, who we are pleased to welcome to the Picture This Gallery this month. Other famous wildlife painters include Robert Bateman, Carl Brenders, David Shepherd, Alan M. Hunt and George McLean.
By way of their subjects many wildlife artists are also naturalists and conservationists and their art aids the preservation of habitat for the wildlife they depict.
We offer a workshop with Cindy as well as an exhibition of her work this month. Please follow the link:
