“I was born and raised in Monmouth Illinois. I really don’t remember a time when I was not interested in some type of art. I graduated from the American Academy of Art, in Chicago. While there, I studied both the commercial side of graphic design and advertising along with Fine Art. I have spent several years as a freelance artist, designer, and Art Director, but my passion will always be painting. My wife has described my work as exaggerated realism. As for me, I simply try to make the composition correct with rich, bold and vivid colors. I enjoy creating a space that allows people to feel as though they can meander through, or actually grab the elements of a still life. I try to capture moments in time – a mood; I want to showcase the beauty in what others see as ordinary. Yet just like life itself that is merely the façade, the true beauty is the stories behind many of these paintings. While painting pieces of architecture I think to myself, ‘How many people will pass by this and only see an office or an old tired building, when I see someone’s passion and craftsmanship that can’t be reproduced today’. Many of my personalized pieces may only look like a still life, but they are actually pieces that represent others’ passions, beliefs or moments in time shared with friends and family. Through creating personalized pieces, people can receive a truly one of a kind piece of art. This process also allows me the opportunity to meet people, who in any other circumstance, I would not meet. I try to take something away from this process that I can apply to my own life. I believe everyone has something to share that we can all learn from. There aren’t many things better in life than creating something others enjoy and appreciate.”
