Michael Dzwiniel is a native Albertan who has been hiking and photographing nature in the Rocky Mountains for over 40 years. After retiring from a career teaching high school chemistry, he started capturing the beauty of nature in earnest, changing his style from documenting details to focusing on the aesthetics of landscapes in Alberta and beyond. Dzwiniel has learned to appreciate the old photo adage regarding patience: “shooting the picture takes 1/250 of a second – preparing for the shoot sometimes takes hours, days or years”. He has recently started printing on canvas, a medium that better displays the brilliance of colors and depth of images.
