Up, Up, and Away
Artwork Description
Years ago, Scott Gustafson began a series of paintings depicting Santa Claus’ annual Christmas Eve journey. When he realized that he was going to be painting the same eight reindeer over and over, he decided to sculpt a model reindeer to use as a studio reference – “Which,” he says, “turned out to be a very good investment of my time.” Scott referred to this sculpture when he painted as “Up, Up and Away”.
“Up, Up and Away” captures the exhilarating moment when Santa Claus and his helpers take flight from the North Pole workshop to begin a night’s worth of Christmas delivery. Even the moon delights in their voyage as they ride off merrily into the sky. “Up, Up and Away” makes a heartwarming gift for Gustafson collectors, Christmas enthusiasts and anyone who remains a child at heart, still listening for sleigh bells on Christmas Eve.
