“The Scout’ Wolves are a pack predator. They hunt in groups and are very organized. Often they will head off in different directions to find the signs of prey and return to the main pack to let the Alpha male & female know what was observed if anything. In this case the ‘Scout’ has seen tracks and is now watching for movement of some kind and then let the pack know what he or she has found. I wanted to paint a lone wolf in the midst of a cold winter day, when prey is hard to find, just sitting and waiting.”
