The translation of “Morena”, in English, could be “Tan” or “Brunette”. The artist intended the title to refer to the model’s hair color but either translation could apply.
A moment of quiet reverie is, for most of us in today’s fast-paced world, an elusive luxury. Perhaps that is why we are so drawn to the artwork of Royo…..he transports us to a peaceful place, one of tranquility and beauty.
The artist’s self-created paradise is in a small village near the city of his birth in Valencia, Spain. His estate is a place of extraordinary serenity, redolent with the smells and sights of fruit orchards and flowers. It is a place which has been created over many years by the artist and his family as their personal oasis.
