Artwork Description
This is not a specific place to view the northern lights but is based on mountains in the Alaska range. It’s so far north that the trees don’t grow very tall because of the harsh environment and the short seasons.
There are a lot of interesting things about the northern lights that scientists have discovered but there is an emotional side to them. Many native cultures regard them as spirits: relatives who are up in the heavens or spirits waiting to be born or spirit of the “dream time” – the aboriginal myths and legends who speak to you only when you’re in that altered consciousness. Even Scots described them as “the merry dancers in the sky.”
