Mele Kalikimaka
Artwork Description
Inspired by his recent move to Maui after spending several Christmases there with his family, Arvid adds a little whimsy to his annual holiday watercolor with the musically inspired “Mele Kalikimaka.” Strumming his ukulele in the warm Hawaiian sunshine and spreading aloha to all, Santa can’t wait to share his ‘liquid sunshine’ and to celebrate with friends and family (he sounds like a certain artist we know). If you are lucky enough to be in Maui for Christmas, you are likely to find Arvid strumming his ukulele at sunset, with a bottle of chardonnay and a group of friends to share it. And do look for #flatmauisanta to be trending ~ like Arvid, he loves adventures and makes friends everywhere he goes.
Thomas Arvid believes in crafting a life well-lived with the same creativity, intensity, and attention to detail that he puts in his paintings. Recently, that meant a 6 month artist in residency in Maui. Incorporating other forms of art into his life, Arvid has been inspired by the islands to hone his ukulele skills and to add an island flair to his culinary creations. Arvid truly lives the life that is expressed so captivatingly well in his paintings. A life full of love and friendship, where each moment is a treasure to be savored, where slowing down and appreciating the smallest details is a daily routine, and where all treasures are best when shared. In short, a life full of the Spirit of Aloha.
