“‘legal eagle…’ is a nice play on words but the phrase is also perfectly designed for my own purposes. I combined extensive studies of a Golden Eagle at the San Diego Zoo with my fond memories of such moves as Agatha Christie’s ‘Witness for the Prosecution,’ ‘Rumpole of the Bailey’ and, of course, all those courtroom scenes during the run of ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus.’
“The thing to remember or may forget, is that this is clearly a British barrister, not an American lawyer, although the eagle is identified with the United States. The final effect is more international, you see.”
