“I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic of late. I’ve had a long and varied life in the arts and am concerned about the future of funding for and interest in the Fine Arts, Music, Theatre and Dance. I think that the Arts are foundational to a healthy society. I studied ballet when I was young and designed costumes and sets for the ballet professionally during my three decades working in the theatre. Ballet shoes are such beautiful objects and take the light in such a soft way. It is ironic to me that these shoes look so delicate yet support such athletic movement. They are indeed an illusion.”
