Master Asencio’s greatest artistic fulfillment augments as he studies the internal fortitude articulated in the female form. In his newest painting, Contemplation, Asencio identifies the dual essence of femininity — meditation and action.
The artist executes thick, abstract brushstrokes that becloud her form in a protective cocoon. The soothing pigments of blues and whites envelop her in a meditative affection. And yet, breaking forth from the layers of diaphanous azure, she extends outward to embrace the light upon her flaxen hair and warm skin.
Her contemplation peers beyond the superficial to the complexity and abstraction of the soul, compelling honesty, engagement, and time. Asencio identifies his subject’s need for space and losing herself in thought. As she retreats into the peace we all find within ourselves, an inner strength resonates outward to renew and enrich her life.
