“I was inspired to paint this by one of my frequent visits to the New York Botanical Garden. It’s a spectacular place to see and observe so many different trees, plants and flowers. I particularly love the amazing English rose garden and the way the sunlight catches the leaves petals of each rose bush. It adds a lot of drama that inspires me to paint it. The hummingbird is really an accent to the composition to add a little more more interest. The color of his plumage compliments the roses and harmoniously brings it all together.”
