8th Hole, Olympic, Lake Course, 2012 U.S. Open Championship
Artwork Description
The U.S. Open moved from the nation’s capital in 2011 to the West Coast in 2012, and the legendary, tree-lined setting of The Olympic Club’s Lake Course. This remarkable painting by world-renowned golf landscape artist Linda Hartough is of the new eighth hole, which has been sculpted into the amphitheater-like hillside beneath the Lakeside Clubhouse. Through her attention to detail and realistic perspective, Ms. Hartough is able to capture the dramatic mood and natural beauty of the landscape as late afternoon fog rolls in from the Pacific. A classic and elegant rendering, she depicts the narrow cypress-lined fairway and small but well-bunkered green, both indicative of this challenging course.
