“I remember that back in the 1980s, soon after Stephen painted ‘Yosemite Alpenglow,’ we briefly reproduced it as a black and white poster. Stephen sent it to park rangers, people he admired and respected and asked them to check it for accuracy. At first, some rangers thought it was a photograph because of its incredible level of clarity and detail. Then they noticed the valley was free of roads and buildings. Stephen captured Yosemite the way it used to look – the way we still wish it did.” – Andrea Lyman
