Banff National Park has always been a very special place for me. I have many wonderful memories of trips to Banff over the years with family or friends to go camping, hiking or skiing in the area. On one of these trips, I spent several hours at the Vermillion Lakes one fall afternoon, soaking up the beautiful scenery. I took dozens of reference photos to tuck away for a possible future painting. I was all alone and it was so incredibly peaceful and quiet. This painting is based on one of the photos I took that day, and it still brings back vivid memories of that magical fall afternoon.
