Artwork Description
I saw this grackle while visiting my parents at my childhood home in Lindsay, Ontario. The common grackle is one of several birds that regularly visits the property. I’ve always admired the luster of their feathers, and was eager to capture that in this drawing. In some areas, the common grackle is now considered a pest by farmers because of its large numbers and fondness of grain. Despite this, I hold this bird near and dear to my heart because it reminds me of home, and I can’t help but admire its beauty.
