Artwork Description
“Ferruginous Hawks range through much of western North America, where they prefer country that is open and wild. The largest hawk species on the continent, they are very eagle-like, with long wings, heavy bill and legs that are feathered to their short and powerful toes. Adults are typically white beneath, with a rusty back and “leggings,” but some individuals are mostly dark chocolate brown with varying amounts of rufous.”
