“As I worked on ‘Voyage of the Basset,’ I returned again and again to this painting. Finally, after all of the other paintings were done, I set out to complete this complicated scene. The silver-haired, seated faery is my daughter, Emily and the baby on her lap is my eldest grandchild, Sunshine.”
