Flight Sergeant L. J. O. Roberts was a WWII bomber pilot brought down in May 1942. At the time, his younger sister was only around 12 years old and for over 70 years she kept an envelope in her dresser of her older brother’s items and various military keepsakes.
Recently, her son Lloyd brought in the collection of military memorabilia to Picture This to be made into a keepsake collage. The collection includes photos of his uncle Flight Sergeant L. J. O. Roberts, several medals, a posthumous award from the Royal Canadian Air Force, and more. “One of the most original items is the flight book, it is opened to his last entry, that is just too unique,” says Lloyd.
Every picture tells a story
Picture This collaborated with the client, Lloyd, to design the collage to tell the story of Flight Sergeant L. J. O. Roberts. Great care was put into the placement of each item, with the goal to take viewer on a journey as they look through items left to right, like reading a book.
I am excited to show my mother along with all of our family members. The staff are so friendly and helpful! I wouldn’t go anywhere else for framing.

“It turned out better than I ever thought it would,” says Lloyd of the finished framed collage, “I enjoyed working with Picture This deciding on the right framing, matting, and location of all the pieces. I am excited to show my mother along with all of our family members. The staff are so friendly and helpful! I wouldn’t go anywhere else for framing.”
