Born the fourth of seven children and raised on a farm near Barrhead, Alberta. Karoll’s fascination with her rural environment, was the source of inspiration for much of her artwork. She began honing her skills from the time she was nine. Competing against adults in all creative endeavors, winning numerous competitions and prize money. She enrolled in adult art classes at the age of twelve. As a teenager, she enrolled in a landscape course and life drawing courses through the University of Alberta’s extended programs.
By the time she was in her early twenties, she had successfully conducted her own shows. Selling most of her creations this way. She has been successful marketing and selling her paintings and sketches to clients in Australia, Europe, North and Central America, and Asia.
Due to the demands of time in researching and creating her paintings, she chooses very carefully, gallery representation. One of the few galleries she has worked with is Picture This gallery in Sherwood Park, Alberta. They have a very positive attitude and excellent staff. As of August 2001, Picture This gallery showed and sold Karoll’s paintings in six of the eight shows. Selling a total of eight originals.
Karoll has sold over sixteen original paintings and pencil drawings to private and corporate collectors just in the last two years. Considering she does only original creations, this is phenomenal. That’s an average of one painting sold per month.
She has also sold her originals through the prestigious Western Art Gallery at the Calgary Stampede.
She has done portraits of people, (including children), feline, canine, and her favorite, horses.
However, it’s her incredible landscapes that seem to capture the admiration of her clients. She has a distinctive style and subject matter that has collectors anxiously awaiting the next piece. Thus, most of her paintings sell shortly after they are completed.
Karoll’s passion for North America’s incredible beauty will indeed inspire more and greater landscape paintings for her growing list of admiring collectors.
