Artist Guy Coheleach

Guy Coheleach is one of the most renowned wildlife artists in the world. His art displays a true passion for wildlife that is immediately apparent to anyone viewing his artwork. Coheleach has spent years abroad and in the US collecting visual references as inspiration for his work. These experiences combined with his immense talent is what yields his breath-taking paintings. His work is appreciated by art critics as well as animal scientists.

Coheleach's work has received some of the highest accolades. His paintings have received the Society of Animal Artists' Award of Excellence an unprecedented eight times. This most prestigious honour is awarded by the curators and professors of fine art from museums and universities across America. He has also received the celebrated Master Artist Medal from the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in 1983, one of only a few artists both living and dead so honoured at the time. more

The Last Water Hole

In this painting, a bull elephant has come to the last water hole.  It is very difficult on the grazing animals because the big predators, such as leopards and lions, are usually waiting in ambush at the water's edge.  This bull elephant may have temporarily scattered the predators, affording the grazing prey a quick chance to drink.
